Tree work in tight city spaces
A lot of tree work in the city is tight-access work: a back court reached through a close, a tree hard against a wall, a garden overlooked on every side.
In spots like that we don’t fell a tree in one go. We dismantle it in controlled sections, lower the pieces safely and carry the waste out the way we came in.

Protected trees in Glasgow
Glasgow has 25 conservation areas, including Glasgow West, Park, Woodlands, Broomhill, Scotstoun, Victoria Park and Dennistoun. Trees inside them are protected.
Before any work on a tree in a conservation area, you must give Glasgow City Council six weeks’ notice in writing. It is an offence to start within that notice period. If the council hasn’t responded after six weeks, the work can go ahead.
Some trees also have a Tree Preservation Order, which means the council’s permission is needed first.
This is a general guide, checked against the council’s own pages in October 2026. Rules and boundaries change, so confirm with Glasgow City Council before booking work.

Questions about tree work in Glasgow
Do you cover all of Glasgow?
Yes. We work across the city, including the West End, the East End, the north of the city and the Southside, and in the surrounding areas.
Do I need permission to cut a tree in Glasgow?
If the tree is in one of Glasgow’s 25 conservation areas, you must give Glasgow City Council six weeks’ written notice before any work. Trees with a Tree Preservation Order need the council’s permission. If you are not sure, check with the council before booking.
Can you take down a tree in a small back court?
Yes, subject to a site assessment. Trees in confined spaces are normally dismantled in controlled sections to protect nearby property and manage access safely.
